Crusty bones are softer than joints and tubes, and are completely edible. The bones are offered raw as part of a balanced raw food diet. Regular bone chewing can help prevent oral and gum problems and prevent gingivitis, as the surfaces of the teeth and gums are cleaned by the mecanical movement of chewing.
If you have never given your dog raw beef bones before, start with small amounts. First-timers and sensitive dogs can get an upset stomach from a large dose of bones.
Remember to supervise your dog while eating the bones and always have fresh water available.
